Guys, I know that I'm stepping over the line with all these OT posts but I'm doing so in the hope that we might see some of these concepts on the cfque on the next version of the ique apps. I'm trying to avoid ppc .v. palm wars but where I do mention the OS issues I'll try and make it a factual statement where I can, if I think it is relevant to the point. Upto now, I've tried to cover things from the application/antenna level of discussion as much of this could see its debut on the ique later.
So if I go hopelessly over the top on processor issues, then I can only say - tough tackies (as we used to say in SA)! For those who are offended by any mention of the word ipaq then I can only suggest you treat this as a porn site, and I respectfully refer you to www.lego.com.
Ok?:D

dufus.
i just felt i had to say that. :D
the only solution is, to paraphrase Kang (or was it Kodos), cfQues for some, tiny flags for others. That will make everyone happy.
/me waves his a little flag and cheers.

lycestra, please explain "dufus" to me! It sounds like it could be a rude acronym.:D

By apologizing does that mean you are going to quit. :)
Why not start a topic for cfque questions and comments that encompasses everything instead of spreading it out? Something like; "OT: Everything cfque related"

A good point CC. Upto now I post them as I see and think of the issues, hence lots of posts. I'll take the softly-softly (do-it-once-more-and-you-will-be-kicked) approach.
Just 'cos I have a cfque does not mean I'm going anywhere!
Maybe someone might want to start a "Shall we tell Bokkie to f*** off?" poll. I'd vote Yes for sure.:D
Just kidding.
I think?
:D
PS. I was pm'd recently as a complaint was filed against me! Nothing new there then?;)

Bokkie;
I'm all for Off Topic stuff and as far as I'm concerned the cfque is not really off topic as it's as close of a relative as the iQue 3200, IMO, so post away.
OTOH, you have created more topics already then all the combined MAC users out there have. That's why I suggested consolidating it a bit. BTW, the PM complaint has nothing to do with me as I'm sure you know. :)

I know, CC. You are like me, too silly to complain about someone else!
It's good to see you back in town again.

i'm just picking on you, dude. having to explain the punchline makes it meaningless.
Oh, wait. there is ONE way to save face now.
/me punches Bokkie in the shoulder.
Double-Dufus. :)

What's all this OT stuff about? Isnt' that what the Animal Contingent is all about. ;)
I'm considering this a "blanket apology" and I'm going to post my findings right here.
cfQue and iPaq hx47xx:
Part 1 - The Display: First thing I noticed was it was clearly "brighter" and colours seem to jump out at you a little more. The yellows and greens are quite vibrant. Also on the iPaq, it has an auto backlight option, that will shut off the back light in direct sunlight. That was good for outside, but if you have a sunroof, and have the device is half in the sun and half in shadow, the part in shadow is too dark to see.
A big let down (although I expected it) was that the cfQue application is not written to take advantage of VGA. So even though it is a VGA screen, the image is actually QVGA (240X320). In that respect the roads and text are a little more jaggy. I put a call in to Garmins tech support and asked if there were any plans to enhance the app and the tech said he was not aware of any (read: he doesn't know). It actually isn't that big of a deal though.
I have been trying hard to find the setting to have the background of the speed, road names etc, set to transparent like I saw posted by jwc810, and cannot find that anywhere. jwc, please help me on this!

I have no problem with you posting anything about the CF Que a all. It *IS* made by Garmin, and it does have Que in its name :-) Besides, we know it has to have a host device to make it work, and I feel regardless of what other PDA device it plugs into, it's totally relavent in the strict terms..

Nevermind. Just figured it out. For those who would like to know, you just tap and hold that part of the display (where the speed, road etc. is). A menu pops up for you to make the changes.

lycestra: thanks for calling me a dufus, and for the punch on the shoulder! Both hurt by the way. A dufus then, is a sort of a Hillbilly version of a funbob?
OWG: thanks for the tip about the display options.
wa4phy: Sam, thanks for your vote. You can be running mate in 3 weeks time.
Moose: you're a top egg! The good thing about animals in the forest is that others make use of the crap they produce! Millions of flies and mushrooms cannot be wrong.

Sam It's relevant to a point. All of the CF Que stuff should stay in one thread, this is an iQue forum, and we need to keep focused on the iQue and its use. The fact that the CF Que has features we'd like on our iQue warrants discussion, though.

I'm on the case Ann!
You should go across to the ipaq forum sometime. That forum is so unbelievably quiscient, you wonder where the ipaq users hang out! Apart from AnswerDude, you could fire a cannon at one end and the shell would exit the other and hit nothing inbetween.:)
