I'd like a car mount kit for my ipaq hx4700 and preferably something ergonomically efficient that can be rotated up/down and swivelled to suit ambient lighting conditions. I'd like to slip it into the mount using the same power connection that the cradle can do on my desk that came with the hx4700. Maybe this is a tall order, I don't know.

I'm anxious to avoid those piles of crap that claim to be one-size-fits-all. Does anyone know a good mount that'll do what I want and maybe some links to reviews and product descriptions?

Take a look at Akron car mounts, they have several models. hx4700 is not yet listed but you can ask them about these new ipaq models.

There's also Proclip review here:

The best one i've found is available at http://www.dashmount.co.uk/ it has a built in SIRF GPS unit which works extremely well with TOMTOM navigator. I've been using one for some time with an IPAQ 3950

Guys, it looks like the proclip is the better option as I don't want to do anything destructive in the car so a vent clip would be better suited to my needs and my wife's objections, not something to be ignored lightly at ones' peril!

Are vent mounts universally adjustable or must you get something compatible for the cockpit itself? If that is the case, what do I do if the car I have (Toyota Corolla Verso) has no specific mount?

Ideally, I'd like to source something where the hx4700 can simply clip in without having to connect a power cord onto the device. In other words, can I get something that works similar to the hx4700 cradle - slip it in, nothing else to wire up from below?

what are you mounting this in the car for? gps purposes? what gps?

btw, how good is this iPaq is direct BRIGHT sunlight? can you read it? I was thinking of buying one for gps use in an airplane but was concerned if the screen washes out in direct bright sunlight because obviously up there in the air, the sunlight stays bright and you need to have something that doesn't wash out...
