I've had my palm for several years. Recently, I've downloaded programs and inatalled them...yadda yadda..my palm froze. I hard reset, I'm trying to reinstall my programs, and documents. Now I selected the archived documents from the archive directory, I selected too many to install at once now when i synch i get the please wait cleaning....for 2 days i let it go. I'm trying to find out where the list of files for the install app are located. I'm trying to take the files out of that list so I can reinstall the things I need to one by one. I open up the install app and there is nothing listed in the window. But when I synch it tries to reinstall all of the things I selected from the first time I tried . Not sure how make it stop doing this. Post back, thanks

Thanks

Chuck,

Since you did a hard reset, the Palm and the desktop think you have a new Palm and so it is using the "backup directory" for the sync. Look in your Palm directory and you should see another directory with your user name. Open that directory and you should see the directory named backup. You should find there all your programs and documents that were on your palm before the hard reset. That is where the desktop is getting the things to install.

If you want to install them one at a time or in small groups, you must move them to a temporary directory and then selcet them one or several at a time with the install tool. Then each time you sync it will install those apps that you have selected and put them back in the "backup directory". Once you are sure that this has worked and that your palm is back as you want you can delete the temporary directory that you created when you moved the files from the "backup directory".

Hope this helps & works for you,
Calvados:)

A tool for installing apps a few at a time and for also making a complete backup is SyncWizard. It will make life simpler the next time.
