I couldn't resist the temptation and just had to get the Tungsten T.
I know the cradle is supposed to be universal, but I noticed the cradle for the TT has an H on the bottom, and the number of watts on the power adaptor is different then on the 515 adaptor. So, I'm wondering if anyone else has charged or synced the TT on the 515 cradle?
No dust issue, whew!!

Congratulations on your Tungsten T! I've had mine for almost 2 weeks and it's a great PDA!
I gave my m505 to my wife and charge both the Tunsten and the m505 on the m505 cradle. Both charge; both sync; no problems. I did a hard reset of the m505 so that I could set the m505 to my wife's User identity in Palm Desktop. I am using the "E" cradle, which was Palm's replacement of the original m505 cradle after numerous reports of static causing USB syncing problems (the infamous SUDS situation). My Tungsten did come with an "H" cradle, but I have not had the motivation to take them apart to look at the difference. Here's an article (with pictures!) showing, among other things, the modifications to make the "E" cradle:

BTW, "pcb" in the article stands for "printed circuit board".

Thanks for the reasurance and the link. I won't be taking the cradle apart though. I'm a "software" person and haven't played much with the inner workings of the handhelds or cradles. :) I will though be able to charge and sync both at work and home.
I've been busy checking the software to make sure it runs on the TT, and am very pleased that most of it runs. I've had to download newer versions of some, but am very pleased to find that Newpen works fine. I find it easier to write graffiti on the screen, something about old eyes and arthritic hands. :)
Bye the way, the 515 screen protectors fit the TT almost to a T. :)
It must be late, granny is getting goofy.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the info on Newpen. I'm going to post it for all Tungsten users to read and give you the credit. It's a great utility!
Here's a link from Palm's website listing applications they say will and will not work with the Tungsten:

I had to install a new version of Mapopolis. My hacks and AvantGo do NOT work. :( ... SplashPhoto worked, but they came out with a newer version that took advantage of the TT's ARM processor and OS5, so I installed that. Most of my other programs worked just fine.
Here's a link to a recent thread re how I protect my Palms' screens:

Hope you enjoy your Tungsten. See you on the boards.

Sorry to take this off-topic, but could you tell me which screen protectors you use for the 515?
I currently have a Vx, and I'm thinking of getting either a TT or a 515 . . . decisions decisions . . .

I use the screen protectors by "Fellows" because that's what available locally not because I think they are the best.
I did have problems trying to use protectors designed for monogrom screens on a color device though I don't recall who made those.
I've used the car wax solution and had good luck with that but I don't recomend it if you are a gamer. Hubby has worn spots in the screen of his pda's from the repetitive tapping for card games.

I bought the iConcepts cable and while it allows for power to go to my Tungsten, it doesn't allow it to sync (on my Mac using 10.2.2). It also fits a little bit tighter than the cradle.
I wasn't going to worry about returning it because there are enough people at work buying Palms. If anyone hears anything to the contrary, please post it.
Thanks :D

pdagranny,
Your husband must be an "enthusiastic" gamer if he has created wear spots on his screen! I think in his case, a screen protector that covers the screen surface with a clear film would be best for him. That's why I placed the Type 811 tape over my grafitti area.

Check out the URL @ Palm's support web site. You are entitled to a FREE cradle if your m500 or m505 cradle does not have an E or H on the bottom. Just fill out the form and Palm will ship you a new cradle in 48 hours. Offer available in the US or Canada ONLY.

OldBlue,
I've got to try the tape since I don't like the "feel" of the screen protector. I will keep a screen protoctor on any machine hubby uses though. It's not that he's such an enthusiastic player, just gets bored while sitting in dr waiting rooms, he's the official driver for all the elderly relatives.

Just a suggestion ... If your husband likes playing games on the Palms that you hand down to him, but is causing wear marks on the screen, maybe he would like a GameBoy Advance instead? I bought one for my son (he's was 25) and we both liked it so much that I bought one for me shortly afterwards! If your husband is using the Palm strictly as a portable game machine, the GBA might be an alternative to consider.
BTW, how do you like the "feel" of the stylus on the taped grafitti area?

I haven't tried the tape yet on the 515 since I'm using NewPen and the minikeyboard. I used it years ago on the Palm IIIx and liked it. The removable tape I used had a slight texture so it felt more like paper.
That's a good idea to get the GameBoy Advance for hubby. I think he'd like the variety of games. Who knows what Santa may bring. He does use the Palm for all the traditional functions too. I'll keep encouranging him to go TT as well to help prevent some of the conflicts I had and also the louder alarm. He needs to keep track of which relatives go where and when and any info the dr tells them so he can pass it on to younger ears. We are trying to find other relatives to help out with the driving though. Hubby says he didn't retire to have a five day week of driving people to appointments. I mean really how is he going to get the chores I put on his todo list done. I quit using Outlook to do that, now I just beam them or enter them right into his handheld. He has started hiding it from me :)).

We must be using the same tape, as mine has a paper feel to it also. I'm using 3/4" Scotch Type 811 w/ removeable adhesive to cover the grafitti area.
Your husband sounds like a great guy. Tell him I admire that he is retired, yet still drives elderly relatives around 5 days per week. (It sounds like he did not really retire after all! :) ) ... If he goes TT, too, then you won't have to worry about him hiding his Palm to keep you from IR beaming ToDo lists to him. You can just transmit the lists via BlueTooth! :D
I'll bet he'd love a GameBoy Advance for Christmas! The problem for me is the cost of the games. They're not as inexpensive as Palm shareware (or freeware.) Fortunately, my son and I swap game cartridges, which helps lower individual expenditures.
