Hey,
I downloaded Pocket DVD which converts some of a DVD you have so you can watch it on your Pocket PC. I used it to make a .avi file, and it simply said to copy that file on to the PDA, and the DVD player would play it. Well, the Pcket DVD player says it's an unrecognized format, and not even my PC can open the file:confused: anyone know?

It seems that it can't find the "codecs" to play the file. I don't know how to install codecs on my Pocket PC. Can anyone help?

Is it Pocket DVD Studio (there are a few Pocket DVD out there)? If it is the file is xvid avi.
Try using BetaPlayer on PocketPC
http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/
And on the desktop you can install xvid codec, or use VLC media player;

By the way, there is also a free dvd converter;
PocketDivXEncoder

Yes, i am using Pocket DVD Studio, and it is making me so angry. There should be NO other steps you have to take other than copying the avi onto your Pocket PC according to it's help section. I tried downloading PocketMVP, but it had to copy some files on my PC which failed for some reason.
I still don't understand how installing the Xvid codecs on my PC is going to help anything! :confused:
-Thanks

1> Have you tried Betaplayer?
2> You said that you cannot even play the file on the pc, installing xvid codec or VLC player will let you play the file on the pc.

1) Yes i have tried Beta player, get same message
2) I will try and re-install the codecs and then see if it will let me watch the .AVI files.
