Hello,
I am an adept user of Palm OS, with my current pda being a P T II. But I would like to move to Windows CE OS on a PDA, precisily because of the follwoing problem i have with Palm OS:
I can not read WINDOWS(XP or any other) NOTEPAD .TXT files from my SD card in Palm OS. Anyone have any solutions?
I use a lot of simple text files, i dont use MS Word or any other RTF programes & also do not hot syn, because i'm mobile and hence cant carry my desktop with me, hence use any system i can lay me hands on.
So my question is: Does Windows CE for PDA allow files that are saved in WINDOWS NOTEPAD (WOS computer) onto a SD card to opend directly from the SD card onto the PDA notepad or somthing?.
In other words does WCE have the same NOTEPAD as in Windows OS, so there will be no problem with file compatibility or the need to convert the file.
I have bloated my problem a bit, but hope you are clear about the problem.

Yes, the built-in Pocket Word can read .TXT files from storage card, there is no need to convert them. You may have to create a folder called My Documents on the storage card and put the files in there for Pocket Word to see. There is also free 3rd party Pocket Notepad program that's very similar to desktop version.

That depends on your budget and what else you want your pda to do. There's a good review site here:

you might search ebay for "mobilepro" and consider them, they are a little larger, but have a touch typeable keyboard.
The 780 is half the size of the 800/880. Have both and do a lot of text file typing. The 880 is best for screen size but a little bigger than some folks like.
The 790 has a later operation system.

Belated but ... for Palm users, you can use quite a few apps to edit text files directly on your SD card.
You can get SiEd from freewarepalm.com
http://www.freewarepalm.com/docs/sied.shtml
It also allows you to save your text as doc files that can be shared and read by Palm reader.
