Just got a HX4700 to replace Garmin Iqe 3600 (couldn't live without bluetooth and wifi any longer) and have some questions:

1. Is there a good free DivX/MPG player wich can play 640*480 movies horizontally in full screen?

2. Can I delete any of the preinstalled programs? Like games etc...

3. Is t possible to get a serial cradle for it (have to use Windows NT on work, because of some very special scientific programs)

1> Try Betaplayer
http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/
2> No, you cannot uninstall built-in programs in ROM.

Hello

I'm using an Ipaq 2210.

I have an optional usb-serial cable which is compatible with Hx4700.

Thanks for the aswers.

Yes, I have the serial sync cable, but would like to have a cradle to place it in at the office, so it could be charged and synced at the same time.

GPSfan, I notice you have 'upgraded' from ique to hx4700 as well, eh?;)

Did I have anything to do with that?

Are you opting for the cfque gps or a black box solution?

Do you do development by any chance?

Yes, you might consider it as a upgrade...

Currently, I have a Holux Bluetooth reciever, but I plan to buy the CfQue aswell, because I have Norway 1:50000 MapSource topo maps which I want to use. I think Garmin's MapSource solution is the best and I really miss that.

I am looking forward to use the Garmin maps on the impressive resolution on my new PDA.

The reason for the upgrade is the need for WiFi.

Before the Ique, I had Ipaq 3630 and did quite much programming in VB. I guess I have forgot much, but it wont take long before I am back in the game... I have got Visual Studio .Net, but haven't had the time to check out what development options are available.

Don't expect a radical difference on the displayed map detail. It will be no better overall than the ique and to some extent they look a bit 'fuzzy' on the ipaq screen.

If you have VS.Net 2003 then you can download the emulators and SDK from MS and you can develop full-on OO apps in VS.Net. You won't need much else to get that part of the equation working.

How do you change from portrait to landscape on on 4700?

Can someone list the website for the free AOL Instant messenger for Pocket PC

Easiest way is to press the bottom right hand (iTask) button on the touchpad. You can then select the portrait/landscape mode from the icons presented.
