can you overcharge a palm handheld?
i have just got my palm m515, can the battery get damaged if you charge for some hours?
plz reply somone....

I think you would find that Palm says NO. My experience has been that the battery can be damaged.
JohnKes and Chris Short are more knowledgable on battery issues and charging. Lets hope they spot this thread.

I replied to palmer88's other post on the same subject.
I charge my Prism overnight every few days, when the battery is 70-75%. Seems to be doing ok. I don't let it run down because that is definitely bad.
Properly designed chargers won't overcharge the battery:

(see also page 8 - notice the need to let it sit at 4.2V until charge current is <3%)
I notice that my Handspring AC adapter cools down after a while and voltage never gets more than 4.2V, so it is properly designed. My wife's m500 charger does the same thing.
When it was new (6 months ago), it used 10% per hour of ON time. Now it is more like 15% per hour. Li-Ion batteries only last about 2 years, so this may be the natural aging process.

thanks! that helped a lot, it's to bad that the battery only last for 2 years, I thought that palm wrotte that it would last forever but, whatever, 2 years is great anyway.... thanks again! sorry for asking the same question again...., i am just a newbie here.....
