Hello. I am about to do a ROM update for my h1940.
The questions are:
a) if I do a full backup using ActiveSync, after the ROM update, am I going to recover all the programs, configurations and data exactly as they were before the hard reset and ROM update ? Is a complete restore of the machine's configuration ?
(I know that the FileStore and SD card are apart; I will back-up they using the file explorer).
b) is the ROM update procedure "safe", or sometimes it fails and the machine has to be sent to HP ?

Thank you very much.

1> In theory, you should not restore from backup when you do a ROM update. You may run into problems of mixing registry information from old and new version. Some people reported that they have no problem when they restore from backup, and some people reported that they do. Alternative is to sync to the desktop before rom upgrade. And create new partnership and sync the information over after the upgrade, activesync can also reinstall all the applications in one step via Add/Remove programs.

2> A lot of people successfully performed ROM upgrade, but there are always chance of thing goes wrong. Just read and follow the instruction very very carefully, especially regarding connecting power supply.
