I have no addresses in my 3600. I did put some in to the address book on the palm, they show up on the pda, however when I tap on the Qfind icon then go to addresses there is none found. The box is not there to pick a state, city, street # or address. It's just not there. Any thoughts?

Do you have any detailed maps from MapSource loaded into the Ique3600 - either to internal memory or to an SD card? Seems to me that I read somewhere that w/o the detailed maps installed, the Find Address function would not work. I think the Find Address function uses the detailed maps - not entries from the PDA address book - although you can find the location of addresses in the PDA address book - assuming you have the detailed maps of the address area loaded. Good Luck........

How would I find out if I have the detailed maps loaded? The sd card says Application Directory: 1 item 64.9MB 65.1 MB used 56.0MB free of 121.1 MB does this make since? Thanks Bob

If you have no detailed maps at all, then QueFind is supposed to give you the message "Detailed maps are required to use this feature. Visit www.garmin.com for more information."
I saw this by pulling the SD card out.

But I assume you would know if you have any detailed maps installed, since you are supposed to install them yourself?
Otherwise, the easy way is like what was spelled out about:
Open the Map application, then tap Menu - Preferences - Map - Detailed Maps. There you'll get a list of your detailed maps. If it's empty, then there are none.
But if there are maps, and Find Address still doesn't work, then you've suffered from the not entirely unheard about problem that your address database has been corrupted. For some reason.
If so, reload your detailed maps, and it will solve your problem.

I have it on my screen, it has a state highway on it, no side streets or exits, showing me "west on I-691" which is a local highway here.

I tap on Qmap and the only screen I get is this state highway map. How do I get rid of it to get to the screen you sent me?

I've been at this for three days, I got this on Thursday. I must be going blind at this point. However I'm going to keep going, although you might want to look at your options at this point. But I thank you very much for taking the time to help me out.
Now with that said, the second button from the left on the base of the iQue is the address screen its to the left of the up & down buttons. Where do we go from here? Or am I going crazy on top of it all.......

You are confusing ICONS with BUTTONS. Strumble directed you to the second ICON from the left (next to the little picture of a house - the "home" icon). The next icon (picture) to the right of the little house is a picture of a drop-down menu (sort of). That is the icon to which strumble referred (you can see it in the screenshot he attached to his message). You must TAP the icon with your stylus, not press a physical button.

Should I just go to the "delete" option and delete the base map, base map on Memory, detailed maps in memory and detailed maps on card, then reload them from the PC. They are on the PC.

It does seem that you have no detailed maps installed. You can try just selecting a single map tile from Palm Desktop, MapInstall, doing a hot sync and then see if that map (and related menus) appear on your 'Q. If you don't have detailed map tiles to select in MapInstall, then you must not have installed the detailed maps from the CD. You must install those, unlock them, select tiles of interest and then hotsync to get them to the iQue.

I'll try it. Thanks

Hooray............. it worked. Now I believe I have to much loaded on the memory card. Question should I format the card and then hotsync again? I can only load one State on it now.

What size memory card is it? I have a 256 meg card with the world basemaps, all of Arizona and large parts of three other states and some miscellaneous applications loaded on it. You can check the remaining space on your card using the card info.

If you have a lot of other programs or files on your card (mp3, whatever) you may need to delete some to make more room. Shouldn't have to go through a complete format unless you just want to "start fresh".

You can also have some maps loaded to the iQue memory and some loaded to the card if you like.

By the way this group has been just SUPER I'm very thankful this group exists. You folks have helped me beyond belief.
Thanks everybody your the best.............

It seems I made an impression. Thanks for the complement. Would I do that from the pc or the iQue?

iquit -

First of all, DON'T quit! You have a lot to learn and when you do, you'll find a wealth of tools available to you with your iQue. Have you read the iQue Operating Instructions manual and Applications Guide? If not, I would highly recommend them. Not to mention the iQue FAQ found here (http://home.rixtele.com/~anders/iQueFAQ.htm) .

Once you figure out how to successfully load the detailed maps, thereby giving you access to the wealth of database info found within the map data, you will be able to search for all types of points of interest (POI's), as well as addresses that you input "on the fly". However, as I read your original post, it sounded to me that your intent was more to access your Palm address book from the "Addresses" function of QueFind. As far as I know, you can't do that. What you can do is to input the address you are looking for and, when it is found, you can set that as a Waypoint, which will add it to your address book. Or, from within your Palm address book, you can set a location using an address you already have in your book. You can set the location using either "Find" (takes you to the QueFind "Addresses" dialogue), "Manual" (allows you to input position coordinates), or "Map" (allows you to find the location on a map). Other than the "Manual" option, you will need to have the detailed map containing the location loaded onto your card or device.

Hopefully this info was more helpful than confusing. Again, make sure you read the manuals carefully and feel free to ask here if you have any more questions. As you found out, there are always plenty of helping hands to be found here.

Thank you.
I have no intention of quitting either. It was tuff picking a user name for this forum, after seeing so many off the wall names, I just picked one that would fit in with the rest this fine outstanding group. It has gotten some attention............
