I'm looking at buying a netBook but before shelling out €1000+ want to make sure of something:-
Is is possible to sync. a netBook to a PC using PsiWin and IrDA? (my laptop doesn't have a serial port)
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help :)

Is is possible to sync. a netBook to a PC using PsiWin and IrDA? It depends mainly on the version of windows you are using.
PsiWin needs to connect to a serial COM port and this can only be done with Infrared if a Virtual COM port is created, using IrCOMM. This is supported in Windows 95, 98 & ME but Microsoft removed the implementation of IrCOMM in Windows 2000 and XP, using IrOBEX instead.
In short, I would say if you have Win 2000 or XP, the answer is basically "No".

ITs not possible in XP using psiwin thats for certain. However it is possible to move files etc without psiwin using a gem of a program called PLBeam on the psion - basically converts infra red communications to a more standardised level so you can easily connect and copy to and from just about anything with an infra red port (works a treat with both my pc and phone)....
Tend to use a usb compactflash adaptor more though...
