Battery drains when Palm 71 is off

My Zire 71's battery (less than 1 yr old) is charging up fine in the cradle, but when I leave it overnight, switched off (not in the cradle) the battery drains. Before I do any resets does anybody know what's going on? Any advice about which resets I should do?

The battery may be faulty or it may just need to have the charging circuit reset. Put the 71 in the cradle with power being applied. Soft reset and then leave the 71 charge for at least 4 hours. If that doesn't fix the problem, the battery is probably gone and will need to be replaced.
