I think your Palm requires a hard reset. There will be a memory loss but the prognosis should be good. Complete recovery can be expected after a hotsync.

With a hard reset, all records and entries stored in your handheld are erased. Formats Preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. You can restore any data previously synchronized with your computer during the next HotSync operation. If you're running OS 3.1 or earlier, and you're not using a third-party backup utility like BackupBuddy, you may need to reinstall your third-party applications.

To perform a hard reset:
1. Hold down the power button on the front panel of the handheld.
2. While holding down the power button, use the reset tip tool (or similar object with a small blunt tip), to gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
3. Release the reset button. COntinue to hold the power button.
4. When the logo screen appears on the screen, now release the power button.
5. When the message appears on the handheld screen warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld, press the upper half of the scroll button on the front panel of the handheld to complete the hard reset and display the Digitizer screen.

Pressing any other button instead of the upper half of the scroll button will perform a soft reset.

I have tried doing a "Hard Reset" based on the specific instruction. After doing so, I am still back to square one. My Palm M515, goes into an infinite reboot loop.

There's nothing I can do now. I have even tried allowing it to drain the battery. I recharged it and tried the entire sequence of resetting again. It's back to the same thing again.

What should I do now?

It could be that it is one app that is causing the reset on start up. After you have completed the hard reset, go in to your backup file and delete the last app installed (or back it up to a floppy) then try and hot sync - carry on with this until you are back to a reset that looks like it was when it was working (does that make sense)

Good luck

Artema,
Do I understand you to say that after the hard reset and before the installation of your software the Palm does its "Logo Loop"?
If this is happening you have a hard ware problem. It could be as simple as a stuck button or as complex as a bad capacitor on the mother board. If pushing all the buttons is not helping it seems that it is time to get a replacement or a repair. Are you under warranty?

I just upgraded from a IIIx (with 8Mb upgraded memory) to an M500 and had a similar problem when I tried to do the initial sync. I ended up getting things loaded by moving my Backup directory to the root drive of my drive. I then downloaded the latest versions of all the apps I use and loaded them one by one. I finally loaded the data by opening the programs on the IIIx and beaming them across.

It was a royal pain, but I didn't lose anything.
