Switch-on/off glitchy

:( The Palm Vx I have used for several years developed multiple problems. When the left-hand spring-loaded buton (Date Book) became non-functional about 6 weeks ago I bought an unused IBM WorkPad on eBay. It tested just fine until I synced it using my old owner id, upon which it displayed the same set of glitches as the old Palm Vx. These are: turning on requires that the on-switch must be pressed twice; reminder alarms do not activate the screen and only show up several seconds after manually switching on the unit; digitizer initially went quickly out of calibration, but could be reset with Autodigi2 or sometimes required soft reset, but after a few weeks this last problem seems to have somehow fixed itself; unit does not turn off automatically though it is set to do so after 2 minutes.

Any advice out there?
