Blackberry Enterprise Server Upgrade : 2.1 to 3.5

We currently are running a corporate 2.1 SP4a BES and looking to deploy the 3.5 upgrade.

Has anyone out there completed this process? If so, have you run into any difficulties/challenges?

There is really nothing to it. The MSDE is already installed if you have Exchange 2000. Make sure from where ever you purchase your 3.5 they provide you with bes 3.5 liscence keys. they sometimes dont auto-populate. If this happens you call rim or reseller and request keys for free. The email redirection portion can go pretty smooth.

If you do encounter problems it will more likely be with the MDS portion. You do not need mds functioning for emails to flow.

We found the process to be smooth, including the MDS piece, however, we didn't move heavily into the BES until 3.5. Our 2.1 wasn't widely used. We moved heavily to 3.5 because of the MDS functionality.
