I am having real problems with the backlight on my pro and was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same.
The problem is that frequently when I turn on the machine the backlight doesn't bother to come on. I then have to go through a cycle of shutting the machine off and on about half a dozen times before the backlight fires up.
The machine is useless without the backlight.
Anyone else got this problem? More to the point does anyone know of a fix?
Thanks
Neil

i suspect you've solved the problem since then as it is an old post :) i'd like to know how.
i don't have a netbook pro but i'm experiencing a similar problem with one of my pda's.

I guess that the 'screen cable' is faulty, and that one of the metal strips supplying the backlight's power is partially broken. IIRC, this can happen, but it is not as common as the display itself scrambling.
EDIT: I somehow managed to not realise that this was a Netbook PRO. Most likely the Pro doesn't have the screen cable problem of the original Netbook, since Psion should have learnt their lesson by now...

This is a known Netbook Pro problem and is fixed in the most recent version of the OS - which can be downloaded from the Psion Teklogix web site - if you can find your way through their horrendous navigation.

The unit went back to Psion earlier this year for an upgrade - not sure to which version, how do you check? The problem still remains.
I was told by Psion that you cannot download the image anymore - you have to send the unit off, as it was causing too many problems with people upgrading their units.
Is the image now back as a download?

Just had another look at the Psion site and can see that the image are now back on the site. I can also confirm that I have the latest build (C095l) on my machine and can confirm that the problem, at least on my unit, is NOT fixed.
