One of my clients saw my netBook and looked around and bought a netBook Pro on ebay. He could not get it to go online using his WiFi network in the office and called me. Me and my big mouth, "sure come over I'll fix it. NOT!!!!!!!
I reinstalled the latest OS. Downloaded it again form the Psion site and installed that one. For some reason there is no option under start, programs, communication, to configure a internet connection. The only thing there is Terminal. I have the WiFi card working and there is a connection to the network just no getting online.
Anybody has any clue?

? Is Bill the only one experiencing this with a netBook Pro?
I went ahead and again pulled the batteries. Downloaded the os again. Reformatetted the CF card in my netBook.
Did the whole thing all over again.
Same result followed the instructions, again no option to configure the internet. WiFi card works fine also tried another one with the same result. I have connection but can not hit the web.

Thanks. This is the same as going to control panel and where I have the WiFi card configured. This still does allow me to configure my ISP settings. The card connects fine. It is the other setting that is nowhere to be found.

The error I receive in explorer is Cannot find server or DNS Error.

You apparently need to look for something called the Connection Manager. This shows all your connections. There is also reference to a Dial-Up Wizard (I've gleaned this from several sites via Google).
If it's anything like NT4, RAS dial-up used to be configured from Start-Accessories-Communications. I've seen this referenced under earlier versions of WinCE as Start-Programs-Communications-RemoteNetworking at http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/s/0010.asp
One other thing, is there a device manager in CE that allows you to see if there is a modem listed - maybe you won't see the dial-up options if no modem is detected?
Other than that, I don't think I can be of much help :(

Thanks,
That is exactly the problem. According to the help files I should find this option under start, programs, communication but there is nothing there other than terminal.
For the other part I have configured that without a problem. With the card in the netBook I have configured the connection for wireless and even the encryption works. I can see the connection works but I Internet explorer is still coming up with the same error.

So is there a device manager which shows a modem?
As for IE, do you have a DNS server set up? It sounds like you are not resolving the names. See if there is anywhere you can manually enter some DNS entries (doesn't matter which ones you use, most ISPs have DNS servers which are visible on the internet).
Hope this helps

Hmmm... that is strange.
I have both a SanDisk WiFi CF and a Dlink WiFi CF and they both work without any troubles on my netBook Pro.
It configures correctly etc etc...
But now comes the catch.... for the D-Link WiFi CF you must install the PocketPC 2003 drivers!!!
Since I don't know which WiFi card that he has, it is difficult to sort it out.
What CF/PC Card WiFi does he has?

It is a HP flavor of the Avaya Silver Card.
That part works fine with after entering WLAGS46 when you put the card in. I was also able to configure the encryption end without problems. The card also works in my netBook, so the card is fine. It is just crazy that this option is nowhere to be found under start, programs, communication. Bill and I are ready to make a netBook Pro shaped whole in the window.

I'm surprised to hear that you have difficulties to configure the internet connection.
If I pop-in my CF card then a small applet appears with green bars in the status bar.
I double tap on that applet and it pop ups with the WiFi settings.
Additionally, if I go to the Network and Dialup Settings then the WLAN icon appears in that window. I can simply double click on it and select DHCP or not and configure everything.
So I'm amazed that you have difficulties!
I suspect that your Avaya card requires the PocketPC 2003 drivers to be installed. I had to do that too for my CF cards to get it working properly.
I copied the CAB file and install it right away.
Do not use the PocketPC 2002 drivers if they exist, because it works slightly different and never install the HPC2000 drivers that makes it worse.
If you can get the WM2003 drivers then install it, it will probably make your life easier...

I am lost, In Network Connections I have the WLAGS461 Icon where I configured DHCP and the encryption that connection is up and running. When I double click it I get three tabs: IP Information, Wireless Statistics, Wireless Information. I see the IP address and it tells me I am connected. I have 5 green bars indicating signal strength. But still no change Explorer, comes up with the same DNS error.

It seems that you are really stuck huh?
- did you check whether you have defined a proxy for the internet settings? It might be possible that it tries to contact that proxy... but doesn't exist.
If this still doesn't work, try the following:
- open a dos box via Start -> Run -> cmd
- in the command box, run ping www.yahoo.com (or whatever stuff).
or maybe try ping -4 www.yahoo.com (this forces IPv4)
if you get more desperate run the netstat utility from the dosbox.
Let me know what you see.

Thanks,
I tried with a ping for yahoo I get "IP address must be specified"
When I try toping my other machine using the IP address I get "Ping: transmit failure, error code 87"
Thanks again,
John
