never had 1 of these things before....

what do the different file extensions mean? .pdb, .prc?

after i hotsync them in, i can never find them. what the heck am i doing wrong???

please help the big dumb white guy......

Normal questions, I am not an expert, but here is what I know. The .prc is an exacutable file that is a program that will run such as Datebook, addressbook, and all of the others that you may install. The .PDB is a database file that is used by the programs that are exacutable such as datebook etc.

As to where they are, after you hotsync look in the directory c:\palm on you PC and you should find your username as a directory, open that and you will find all your different directories, such as backup, archive, address etc. The files you hotsync are there.

On your unit itself, you might also look for newly hotsynced programs under the "Unfiled" category.

Tap on the category pull-down list at the upper right-hand corner of the main screen and select "Unfiled". Many programs end up there instead of being filed under other categories such as Main, Games, System, Utilities, etc.

To move these into other categories, tap the time bar at the upper-left corner of the main screen or the menu icon on the lower-left of the grafitti area to bring up the main menu, then select "Category". Locate the program(s) you wish to relocate, then tap on the category pull-down list next to the program name and select the category you want to move that program into.

If you have installed certain files that are considered data files (for example, those with a .pdb extension) you may need to install the companion "reader" program to access such files. Check back at the site(s) where you downloaded those files and see if you can find a main program (probably will have a .prc extension).
