I am considering getting an Axim x50v and ran across the following on Cnet's Axim x50v Product Overview:
Since this is a proprietary device, you will not benefit from the broad third-party application support of mainstream platforms such as Palm OS or Pocket PC.
I am newbie to the PPC world (switching from Palm), so my knowledge of PPC's is rather limited. I understand the applications are dependent on which processor you are running and also which version of the OS you are running.
So, does this mean that Dell has their own custom processor on board the Axims (I know it runs the Intel, so this doesn't seem likely)? Is there some other thing about the x50v that limits the applications I can run on them to a certain few or are the guys at Cnet just off their rockers? I really would like to be able to take advantage of all the cool software that is available for the PPC and be able to run them on my PDA.
Thanks!
