Nonreactive touchscreen

I have a TREO 600 which I adore. But this morning the touchscreen became almost completely nonreactive out of the blue. I can get certain items to register by pressing REALLY hard with the stylus, but that's not the way I'd like to live my TREO life and it'll damage the poor thing.

Soft reset didn't seem to work.

Any other low tech solutions (like, have I pressed the magic combination of buttons somehow to disable the screen?).
