You may have to delete one to enable a new one. newguy04 12-04-2004, 06:41 PM how do you delete them or create them? I uninstalled ActiyeSync on my computer and downloaded it again and still nothing worked Bokkie 12-05-2004, 02:45 AM Originally posted by newguy04 how do you delete them or create them? I uninstalled ActiyeSync on my computer and downloaded it again and still nothing worked My experience is that activesync does not completely uninstall, as it leaves residual traces of registry goo behind. To delete all the partnerships, don't install the ipaq in the cradle. The moment it sniffs a connection so it will lock down the partnership it knows you to be. If the cradle is empty you can launch activesync and then remove them completely. To be honest, I find activesync to be a bit unreliable and unstable on occasions. I refer to it now as ActiveStink.:) FruitBat 12-05-2004, 02:47 AM On your iPaq go to Programs the ActiveSync Then from the Tools menu at the bottom select Options This should bring up a screen allowing you to select the computer to sync with (you may have more than one in there) Also check the options from the same screen to make sure that the USB connection is enabled. On your desktop computer open ActiveSync and from the file menu select the "Delete Partnership" option this will delete any partnerships you have currently (If you have re-installed I don't think you will have any) then try the Get Connected option again making sure the USB is enabled. newguy04 12-05-2004, 01:03 PM thats for your help guys it seems to work hopefully it will keep working newguy04 12-05-2004, 01:29 PM ok now it is screwed up again after taking it off the cradle once. It says it is unable to connect. Before you get it to work I went tools then PC and it said enable syncronization when cradled using: it was at 115200 Default and there were 3 other numbers when one that said USB. I choose USB and it seemed to work but that was when there was nothing on the bottom one saying include PC when syncronizing remotely and connect to: and now for some reason it says KIDS when I first did it and it worked it said nothing Then a message says "Unable to connect with current settings. To change your connection settings, tap settings." Any idea what to do I need this activesync to work so I can put things on my iPAQ. Kennethsf 12-16-2004, 04:10 PM is there an alternative for active sync? AnswerDude 12-16-2004, 04:44 PM Originally posted by Kennethsf is there an alternative for active sync? No, not for Windows platform. There are other solutions for MAC. For Windows there are 3rd party add-ons that let you sync to other products besides Outlook but you still need Activesync Bokkie 12-16-2004, 05:14 PM Originally posted by AnswerDude No, not for Windows platform. I was hoping that one day there would be a reliable application. I have not been able to get ActiveStink to hook up to my device for 2 days now. Nothing on my device or PC has changed. It is really one of the most worthless pieces of crap software I have ever used. Microsoft should really release the source for it so someone could make it work and secondly it would give us a good laugh on a cold winter night. AnswerDude 12-16-2004, 09:31 PM There is a workaround way that involves a commercial software called Pocket dbExplorer. It will let you bypass activesync, it's a little complicated but take a look in this thread. If you are interested, resurrect the thread and perhaps maybonot can help explain it. http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43867 PDA Street
