G'day chaps and chappesses, I'm looking to replace my 3c which is starting to creak at the seams a little, plus the backlight has failed which is a pain. I would appreciate any opinons as to the advantages of a 5mx over a Revo Plus. Incidentally I am aware that they are no longer produced, but I prefer typing to how most other pda's do it, so I prefer to stick with Psions.
Cheers

For what it's worth, I'd stick with the 5mx. I've had nothing but battery problems with my Mako (Revo Plus). It's a nice little machine, I can live without an expansion card and backlight, but that battery drives me up the wall.

As an owner of both 5mx and RevoPlus, I agree with ohsix regarding the Revo battery. In addition I like the extra flexibility provided by the CF slot on the 5mx, and I do appreciate having the backlight! Also, if you do a fair amount of typing, I'm certain you will prefer the keyboard of the 5mx.
Just my two pence.

ohsix & netbookbabe thanks for the opinions. Both confirm what I was thinking.

i wouldn't have any experiance with the series 5. i upgraded form a series 3c that was much loved ot the mako. i have had nothing but joy with it and haven't a clue about any battery problems it might have the potential to have. the only thing i don't like is that the batteries cannot be removed for replacement with alkalines for trips etc.. but overall i have found it to be a great modern substitute for the 3c.
cheers

makoman is right on the money. The Mako/Revo Plus is an excellent machine. The battery issue can be avoided completely with a little common sense and patience. I have never seen a 5MX (would love to) and almost bought one but the idea of the screen cable failing scared me and I can always replace the Mako's batteries with a little work.

I also own both and much prefer the 5mx. The screen is larger, it lasts longer on standard batteries which can be changed on the fly, the keyboard is far, far superior. But if you need something that can fit in a pocket and will do most data entry from a PC that synchronizes with the device then the Mako is a better bet.
