I am a newbee to the world of handhelds. I have a question about files transferred from my desktop in Word and Excel.
Some of the Word files appear on the TE in re-formatted form so that the information is scattered or in the case of Excel hidden in re-sized cells. Is this normal?

I'm assuming that you're using Documents to Go. What is the version number? There were some formatting problems in some version 6 releases. DTG generally is pretty good about preserving Word formatting although it will choke on some table formats. Cells in Excel shouldn't be hidden unless they were hidden in the original spreadsheet. Column widths do have to be adjusted for some data but all you have to do is tap on the top of the coloumn and choose "Fit".

Thanks Jim,
I have version 6. I have only had the TE for 2 weeks.
Here is the response to the question that I got today from Datavis.
"You can prevent the format from changing by locating the files on the desktop application and looking in the details pane. Choose native (Microsoft excel or word) as the handheld format. Then sync. This will also help with supporting more features like column width."
I'll get it right eventually.

Errr, sorry, but what relevance does this have to the question asked in the thread? I don't see anyone asking how to register or how to get to the TE support page...- that stuff is fairly well documented in the stuff that comes with a new Palm....!
Please, feel free to help out, but try and stay on-topic eh?;)

That seems to be Heather's standard reply.

Indeed. It's nice to have someone from PalmOne monitoring the forum but it would be even nicer if they tried help with some of the more arcane problems rather than posting boilerplate answers.:(
