Tweaking

Hi Friends, I am using the Revo Plus happily and then I decide to utilize the Email and Web apps with an IR modem (Nokia 6340). I have looked at all of the info files from Nokia, Psion and Mike McConnell's super helpful IR site and thought things were in order. When I try to connect though I get an error: "Could not connect to Internet. Problem communicating with Internet service's modem. Call was unexpectedly dropped." Please note that the IR connection is made and I can see that the Nokia screen reads "Calling...." This lasts for about 3 seconds until the error appears.
Things I have already done: Mobile provider says SIM is activated for GPRS and network is GSM and accepts circuit switched data. The modem settings have been set as provided for by Psion in their Nokia IRmodem instructions. The ISP settings are set per Psion.
I can provide more details if necessary.
Any useful ideas on the horizon?
PS I am about to try the Nokia with a laptop and PCSuite just to see if that works. More soon.

I'm confused as to whether you are trying to use GPRS, or GSM via your ISP.

"Could not connect to Internet. Problem communicating with Internet service's modem. Call was unexpectedly dropped." This error message usually indicates that your account with your network provider hasn't been enabled for Data calls. It might be worth checking that it has been enabled for Internet Data access and not just WAP.
Mobile provider says SIM is activated for GPRS and network is GSM and accepts circuit switched data. Does the 6340 actually support GPRS? I can find no reference to GPRS in the specs on Nokia's website.

To Tweaking,

I also got this message by sending my email by my internetprovider wanadoo. After calling their helpdesk, i learned that the phonenumber should not contain de landnumber. So you should not use the possibility of " easy calling" and introduce the number without the +xx (+xx stands for landnumber).
The server adress for incoming email should be: Pop.xxxxxx.xx and not Pop3.xxxxxx.xx (xxxxxxx.xx stands for the name of your internet provider.
I hope you succeed in connecting. Good luck

The server adress for incoming email should be: Pop.xxxxxx.xx and not Pop3.xxxxxx.xx That depends on the ISP - I have used an ISP where the incoming server was pop3.xxx.xxx. Normally, though, details of the server settings are on the ISP's web site.
