I have a 3150, and it says it takes CF type II. What are the differences between the type I & II CF cards, and can I use a CF type one in my ipaq? I’m suspecting I can I just want to check

Greetings;

Here is a link that will explain the differences.
CF info (http://zxpro.com/guide.htm)
I'm not sure about using the type 1, but it looks like it might fit. But there might be other problems using it, I would not try until someone else says it would work.

Hope this helps.

I am uncertain about how the 3100 were designed, but I do belive since it is compatible with most of the expansion sleeves that compaq still manufactures.

both the CF and the PCMCIA (with the compaq provided CF adapter ) , will accept both the type 1 ( thinner ) and Type 2 ( thicker ) design.

The only question is , depending on what it is , does the 3100 have software/driver support for the CF device you are trying to use?

If just storage cards , I would think they'd work just find as a CF card has it's own cotroller chip, which makes it easier to detect and use, as opposed to a format such as securedigital, which is thinner because it has no controler chip, and would therefore require programmed support in the device using it.

But a straight out answer would say you can fit both type 1 and 2 in there.
