Screen won't turn off

My ipaq has stopped turning off the screen after the appropriate length of time, whenever it's in the cradle. The backlight goes off after the preset time, but the display remains on. Tried resetting the iPaq and playing with the screen settings but it remains on. Everything goes to pkan when it's on batteries, though.

I believe this is normal; I've notice the same with the 3630, 3870 and 3970.
