I need a replacement adaptor for my mp780. I took a look at the user guide specs which are:

mobilepro 780
AC Adapter
 Input Voltage — 100 to 240 volts AC, 50 or 60 Hz
 Output Voltage — 9.0 volts, 1,000mA max.

The mp880 specs are different but I have seen websites that say these are interchangeable?

I DON'T want to fry my machine. Any suggestions. How about just a radio shack adaptor?
Do I have to get 1,000mA or can I use a 300mA or 800mA?

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to ruin this thing.

Thanks!

Okay, I decided I would try out the RadioShack adaptor. 9 volt, 800mA. I figured that the polarity must be positive tip looking at a few archive posts about the MP700.

I plugged in and viola! Seems to work. Now I've just got to find a serial cable...

to get the 800 mAh transformer. The 300 will supply enough power to run the MPs, but not enough to charge the battery in the normal time. It will charge, but takes f o r e v e r....

I have one of those 800 mAh Radio Shack transformers too with the interchangeable tips, and have the standard NEC a/c supply too. The difference is really not all that noticeable when charging, though it is measureable.

Where the lower current supply really seems to show up is when I am running off wall current running my network card...it gobbles up the juice to the point that my 800mAh transformer is pushed to the max.

If I could find the plug that plugs into the MP I could easily solder my own serial connector...but the connectors themselves are hard to find....

Good luck with your search....Rich
