We're trying to install Palm Tungsten on WIndows XP. During the software install from the CDROM (perhaps 3 screen into the install wizard) their is a BSOD STOP ERROR 0x8e. Originally booting into Safe Mode and trying to install the software produced: 1607 unable to install, installshiel scripting runtime. We installed IsScript7.zip which installed the proper version of the installshield for the system but running the Tungsten install was impossible in safe mode.

Any ideas on how to resolve this. No other problems in installing software has occured on the pc

Hmm tough stuff.

Try to avoid safemode if possible, as it is only used for configurating and programing (rarely though because windows nowadays is so reliable).

Try posting in a Computer Forum, i've seen similar problems only with different software (BSOD STOP ERROR 0x8e).

You won't get much help here even if it is Palm related :(

My guess is that there's a corrupted file on the install CD. You can sometimes get around this problem by copying the entire CD to a temporary directory of your PC and doing the install from there. If that still doesn't work, you should call Palm support and discuss this with them. It may be that you need a new driver for your CD or a new CD from Palm.
