I have a question related to the Palm M100 and Win XP or ME OSs:

Currently I have a Palm M100 and I woul like to know if I can use it with the Windows XP os or the Windows ME os (the palm CD included in the box doesn´t install Palm Desktop for XP/ME machines).

I already have checked out the Palm website (http://www.palm.com/support/downloads/) and I found links for downloading the Palm Desktop (4.1) and HotSync Updater (3.1.1.) for the M100 series. I guess that by installing that version of the Palm Desktop (4.1), and configuring the HotSync Manager for serial communication (since the connection to the handheld is through a serial port) is enough to start working the M100 with an XP/ME machine, is that correct?
Should I install the HotSync Updater (3.1.1.)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

should do the trick indeed, palm instaal toll wil automatically promt you wha port to use during install. just make sure com1 is free becouse it's the only port palm desktop will work with (though there are ways around that)
if XP goes bugging just let it nowit seems to do that a lot:D

.... but somehow the ability to spell goes walkabout?

If you can't get the serial port to work you can hotsync through IR if you have on your PC; it works on my laptop with XP Home ed.). Good luck.

about the com ports, you might want to check my post in this topic (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2374&highlight=%2Achange%2A) for some more info if you need to alter the port numbers.

PS to hcamstra
.... but somehow the ability to spell goes walkabout?

Installing palm desktop 4.1 would probably work, but you don't need to install the hotsync manager update for it afterwords. Everything you need is included with palm desktop 4.1.
