I have a 1gb card that has about 750mb of maps on it, I am going on vacation and want to add that detailed map. Can I just rename the folder on the SD card (GMAPSUPP.img) and just add the one small area that I will be going to, and then when I get back from vacation delete the small file and rename the large one back? This way I wouldn't have to wait for the large file to recompile and install. Hope this makes sense to someone.
Thanks
Rick

Yes it is possible. You might have to park your large detailed.img file inm another folder, maybe rename it also. Check the folder content and structure of /GARMIN on the card before you start. A card reader is good to have when you start with this stuff.

I believe you could also leave the mapset on your SD card alone and load a few maps into the internal memory. That's what I do when I need a few maps for short business trips.

The iQue seems to work with both sets transparently - you don't have to do any manual selection between the internal and external maps as long as you're using one Mapsource product at a time (e.g. City Select, Topo).

Thanks, I never thought of loading in the internal, but if that works it'll be great.
Thanks again

It definitely works. That's what I do. I have my home area in internal memory and a much larger set of files on the SD card (without the home tiles). iQue moves seamlessly among the maps. You could add your temporary files (if small enough for internal memory) and it would all look like one big map set to the 'Q.
