I read on the forums of good reports of the Garmin 'after sales' service on the other side of the 'lake'!!
What are members' experiences of Garmin (Europe) - good or bad?
I phoned Garmin Europe [at Romsey UK] before Christmas to apply for CitySelect Europe v7. They refused to place me on a list until after the New Year. I have in the meantime applied by email, and received an automatic response.
I phoned last week, and they refused to check the list to see how far down the list I was. They refused to tell me the shipping dates.
In the light that some forum members have received their updated disks, there seems to be a lack of after sales service!
Am I the only one?

I phoned before new year and they put me on the list for the Navigator update with no problems. I have called them a few times in the last few months and have never found them to be anything but very helpful.

I have just phoned them again.
There is a backlog of 1400 and they have no idea of when they will fulfill the orders!
They have been giving the Exhibitions and Boat Show priority!
They have not started to fulfill emailed requests as they have been too busy!

Mine took 5 weeks to complete the RMA and they sent me a new device. Let me get this right, it took 5 weeks to wrap a new device in bubble wrap and post it?
Still at least Garmin handled it in person. I recently had to send my HX4700 for RMA, not to HP direct, but to another company they have appointed to do their RMAs. I don't like that idea because once HP are out of their equation who talks to who about what? Like they say, a problem that belongs to noone, is owned by noone. They have promised me it will be sent this week so that makes 2 weeks if they do. Better than the 5 Garmin took, but I could phone Garmin, speak to Garmin, moan to Garmin and follow it up with Garmin, so that's a plus.

Strumble, you should go to the Garmin booth at the nearest auto or boat show. I got (my second) CS v.7 from the Garmin rep in Belgium today at the Salon d'Auto in brussels. (I'll keep one copy in Sweden).

As you know I got mine quite quick, I did register without any probs before Xmas.
I also popped down to Romsey with my 3600, it was Damaged(Scratched) in anRTA, found them not olny helpful but also willing to go the extra mile. Very friendly people and most helpful.
Im not gonna bother with CS7, I m moving to Spain in May and can see nothing where I live in Spain that would cover me spending the equivalent of 100 bucks, so if you PM me your addy, I'll send you my unopened copy.

Hallo,
I've ordered my CS7 on the 21st of December by e-mail. It's the first time that garmin maps include Greece and I'm very anxious to be able to navigate with my iQue in my own city. Unfortunately after so many days no news from garmin Europe. I tried to contact them by phone but always the line is busy. The local dealer doesn't import the Euro City select cd. So the only thing I can do is wait and see when garmin europe will finally post it to me...

No, you are not alone!
I purchased an iQ3600 unit for my brother who lives in Germany and was visiting me in the US. The unit did not work due to a faulty battery - We discovered later this was the least of our problem.
Our problem started when we tried to contact Garmin's customer service. It took over 35 minutes to get to talk to someone from their staff, who advised to contact Garmin in UK - after my brother's registration to the product under his address in Germany. I tried to send their UK office a fax several times, their number is always busy even after midnight UK time, we tried to call them and had to wait more than 40 minutes (international call) and never got through. We both have e. mailed them and did not get a reply for 5 days.
I wonder how Garmin will survive being in this competitive business with such VERY poor quality of customer service?

Well, if you read a bit about customer support on this forum you'll see that Garmin offers excellent service in the USA. Their european counterparts seem to leave quite a bit to be desired.

The relatively poor service of Garmin UK is really nothing more than an extension of the poor service experienced across many sectors of UK business.
In a dog eats dog country, they have your money, you have their product. I really don't see what the problem is?

Hmm, I have only ever had exellent service from Garmin UK.
I had to call them on Friday at 5:15m to get a unlock code as my post RMA iQUE code for my US Maps had been mislaid.
Only about 10 mins on hold, they gave me what I needed.
They had however, not responded to my email request for over a week. I always thougt it more sensible to call them up !

I've got a nice mail from Romsey, where they state that they have shipped CS v7 to me, and that it should arrive in a couple of days.
Can't complain about that.
i wonder what they have against Bokkie? ;)

Well, I got that e-mail the 21st, and the discs the 27th. But then you are in Wales, on the rim of the (almost) ded Empire, while I'm in Sweden, the hub around which this universe revolves! :D
