I've been asked to come and show the new apps published on this forum to the Garmin reps in Belgium.

I don't use the proximity alarm and don't have any waypoints for it. It's one of the things they'd be interested I understand. Coudl somebody who uses it be so kind as to try it with a simulated route to see if it works?

Jonas, it will work in route simulation mode if "Sim Mode" in general preferences is set to "On". (You have to hit save for it to take effect.)

You can try it out yourself by simply loading your current waypoints in your addressbook. This is done in the Waypoint Prefs page. You have to enter a category for those that you want to be alarms.

This is what I would like: Waypoint proximity alarms with users own .wav files from Quevoice!!

Garmins current design with the possibility in Quevoice to attach a location (waypoint) to a .wav file. is of no use for me anyway.

Maybe it´s of use for those who have argued with their wife´s during a vacation trip, and later want´s to check who said what and where :D

In Birdwatch the Waypoint proximity alarms works great, would be even better if the sound files could be customisable too.

Bye for now

great marketing & public relations opportunity here! Just tell them that JMckie is not for sale, and does better work here than sucking up to the Garmin corporate machine.

Seriously though, can you ask them about making available their mapmaking tool for routable maps? They have something called Mapsource Product Creator, but it is only licenced to official 3rd party Garmin distributors outside their main markets. I would not mind paying for the tool if I can make routable maps, and I don't see what Garmin will lose by making this more generally available since it will only increase the use of their receivers. Navteq's proprietary data will not be affected. [/Rant off]

LeRoux,

It's not an official demo, just some people at the national dealership that would be interested in seeing certain apps.

I'm afraid the company is extremely commercial, at the time very busy counting the extra money they earn from not adjusting prices in spite of the changed EUR/USD exchange rate.

I didn't know there was a program to make routable maps made available to certain dealers. The only dealer made maps I've seen have been the non routable topo maps, which are all made along the same lines. I'll ask them about what mapping programs are available to them as national dealers.

It's true that in places like Croatia there have appeared street maps. But Belgium is too much in the midst of the central Garmin market for Garmin to let people compete with CS europe.

I know that Stan is working on a free program for routable maps. Hopefully, it'll be useful.
