I purchased a Lexar 32x 1GB card from Fry's last week for $59 after rebate. It worked fine. Next day, they had the regular Lexar card for $49 after rebate. I have used it for 2 days now and it seems to be fine as well. I have put "max details" for my NA CS maps and have about 150 MP3 songs with about 4MB to spare on the card. I haven't had any problem so far. Not even the infamous screech from the days of the 256mb Sandisk SD cards. Neither can I notice any speed/redraw difference. Anybody had problems with the "non-32x" Lexar cards ?

Bought the non-32x Lexar 1G from Frys on Thanksgiving week. Works fine. Card Info says "SMI" "Unknown".

Formatting (FAT) using iQue or card reader works fine.

OT: just noticed a file in the garmin folder GRMN_LOG.TXT
event last month

I posted about a significant slow down in zooming in with a 700M file on both SanDisk and Lexar 1G cards recently and expected problems when on the road. You can see what I'm talking about if you have a huge detailed map file, you zoom out to 800 mile scale, move the focus to another part of the US or wherever you have the detailed map "build" for and then start zooming in.

I hit the road for the west coast this week and was pleasantly surprised to see that the speed of the Q was not affected at all by these file sizes in normal operation. I was tracking from the air and had to switch cards (Eastern Time Zone on one and all the rest of the US on the other) as we travelled west and saw no problems when the other card was inserted. I also used the Q in Tahoe, Reno and the surrounding areas without the slightest speed problems.
Guess I was wrong in thinking that it would be a problem. Pleasantly wrong ;)
