Issues installing/ running programs

I know the hitachi 600etm is old and unsupported tec, but I just picked it up as a fun little gadget/ ebook reader. I am completely new to the Windows CE platform and am having issues. The os is listed as windows ce handheld pc edition 3.01 with a 2.11 core system. I am trying to install the mobi reader or anything else on it off of a compact flash card and it says that everything is not a valid windows ce program. It reads the CF just fine and can use pics and docuements. What is the deal?

There could be a couple of problems. One is that some apps must be installed by running the installation file on a PC while the device is connected through a sync conduit. If the app will not install directly, you should try running it as an installation from a desktop machine through a sync session. Another issue could be that you are trying to install a PocketPC/Windows Mobile version onto a handheld device. This is not going to work. Check the web site of the provider and see if there is a version for HPC.
