I probably have mentioned this before, as have a few other Users, but I STILL have not gotten a plausible explanation or suggestion on how to correct it--NAMELY that when I turn off my GPS (regardless of I use the On/OFF or it times out and shuts off), then turn it on again after about 15-20 minutes, the location arrow is located the LAST place I turned it on!! Even if I manually set my location, when I try the above, it, too, pops to my LAST location!!! For example, this morning I went to vendor A using GPS. I shut it off before I went inside, and when I went back to the car and turned it on the map popped to my home (the previous place that I was before it most recently was shut off). It did not take long for it to figure out where I currently was, and I went on my way to Vendor B. Shut it off again before I went inside. When I again returned to my vehicle and fired up the GPS, the map (for a second or so) showed my CURRENT location (Vendor B), then mysteriously popped back to Vendor A's location!!! When I got back to my office (yet again GPS routed) and shut it off, when I turned it on again it showed Vendor B's location, so I manually set it to my HOME address. Shut it off and turned it on 15 minutes later, and it initially showed my home then popped to my office (the last location where active GPS was active??!!! Get it??!! Goofy, huh?? Now I know that it is NOT supposed to work like this, but it's not such a Pain in the derriere (as my locations all are about 50 miles or less from each other), and if farther away I COULD just let the GPS figure out where it is the next time I fired her up. Also, other than this anomaly it works fine; however, I would prefer better that it work correctly. This is my third one from RMAs, and you all know that the 3rd one is a charmer (or so the saying goes!). Yes, I have tried soft resets to no avail, and would prefer not to do any hard resets or NVRAM resets or whatever UNLESS ABSOLUTLEY NECESSARY!! So if anyone else is experiencing this exact same phenomenon AND/OR knows what to do to correct it (short of antoher RMA), please post here. While not the most important thing on my agenda, it is piqueing my curiosity and slightly starting to drive me a lttle nuts!!

It seems the answer to your headline question is: Lost!

I'm sorry (or rather I'm happy) to say that none of my three iQues have shown such a behavior. One interesting thing would perhaps be to delete the relevant records in NVRAM, by using NonVolUtil, one record at a time, and see if rebuilding these will make any change. I assume from your post that you are aware that these records will remain intact over both soft and hard resets.

But I don't know if it really would do any difference.

My iQue acts the same as " VideoImpression's" does. It has acted this way since either release 2 or 3 and when I asked about it long ago, I wasn't the only one.

But since we all use the same R3 (ehrr, at least you do), and most units do behave properly, it simply must be something else that causes this. Since the software that determines the position is the same, it has to be some data. The only data I can think of that reasonably has anything to do with this kind of calculations, is in NVRAM. It can hardly be that you have a particular XYZZZ waypoint that funbobs the whole thing, can it?

Switch off the GPS by removing the external antenna or closing the internal antenna. Wait until the position coordinates are repainted again after the - -- --.---. Then switch off the iQue. Where are you when then switching on after 15 - 20 minutes? Does it help'?
