Hi all,
I'm taking my hubby and 2 kids to New Zealand for 3 weeks around Christmas.
I'm wondering if anyone has used a charger overseas and what experience they had.
I've traveled overseas quite a bit, and one thing I learned early on was that the converters would fry whatever you used them on. The item (usually a blow dryer or something along those lines)would do fine while there, but would die within a week or so of getting back to the states. The last time I went to NZ I bought a blow dryer when I got there and left my stuff at home.
Anyway, my Palm is definately not "disposable" like the blow dryers, so although I really want to have it with me, I don't want to ruin it forever!
I know I won't be able to hot sync it while there, but since I am visiting family there, I would like to update addresses while there. Plus there are a few games that I would like to have to play while on the plane.
Any suggestions as to whether or not to take it with me, or what brand of chargers to get will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all,
Annette Holbrook

Annette,

As someone that travels overseas, I know what you mean. As to your charger, take a real close good look at it and if it is like the one I have for my M515 it should say that it will work on voltage from 100-240V or something simalar to that. For some time now Palm has been smart and realized that people move and need a universal voltage charger and have supplied their chargers with multi voltage.

If it does then all you need is a plug converter not a voltage converter. Those can be bought at Radio Shack. They only change the shape of the plug to match the country you are going too. They cannot burn up your Palm.

Hope that this helps & have a great trip,
Calvados

Dear Annette,
I am always traveling, so I decided to use the only universal power source: the Sun.
To charge my Palm M130 (and my cellphone), I use an iSun solar charger (so small that you can store it in your purse) and a Palm car lighter adapter.
It works anywhere in this planet... and perhaps on other planets as well.
