I'm learning everyday...I'm noting a difference between Sony's basic memory stick and the memory stick labeled "magicgate".

I will use my Clie 665 for graphics, photos, and hopefully the Mp3 included with the system.....I have also purchased two 128mb memory sticks, basic purple, to help with this.

Am I good-to-go or do I have to have the "magicgate" technology to listen to music from the memory stick set-up...thing-a-ma-jig?

You are good to go!

The magic-gate is only needed if you want to use the encoded format for the mp3's. The purple ms will work just fine!

I had the same question about a month ago and asked Sony for advice. The Tech was very helpfull but confused the ..... out of me. I finally figured out that all you have to do is provide a MP3 formatted file to the MS and it works. Before my Clie, I was using Windows Media Player but unfortunately, it does not support MP3. I down loaded a $9.50 upgrade from Microsoft to enable Media Player to convert to MP3 format. Works fine.

Good Luck,
