can't install psiwin 2.3.3

Hi all

New member here. Glad to find this place . Been using Psion's since the mark 11 (remember that one LOL)

I now have a 3a and 3mx and have a problem trying to get hooked up to my pc with psiwin 2.3.3.

As I am on dialup :( I asked my brother to download psiwin and burn to a cd-rw. He duly did this and posted it to me. I have copied all the files into a directory but do not see an install or setup file. Also when my bro downloaded it he said it created a mypsion shortcut on his desktop which he now cannot remove..lol :p

I have connected my 3mx to the pc but it cannot open coms1.

Has anyone any ideas ?

I have a suspision that it has not been copied to disk correctly. My brother mentioned something about it downloading something then asking if he wanted to open the file it then re-connected to the net and continued the download (or something like that - his memory isn't too hot).

Would appreciate any pointers.

On a seperate matter I am toying with the idea of buying a revo plus 16mb or a 5mx (probably second hand) IF I do decide to take the plunge (I havent really the finance to do so and shouldn't really be considering it) which would you guys recommend of the two ?

I have copied all the files into a directory but do not see an install or setup file You shouldn't have "all the files", you should have one file of 25 Megabytes probably called 'English.exe' (for the English language version of the software).
Also when my bro downloaded it he said it created a mypsion shortcut on his desktop which he now cannot remove Go to the Series 5 page of my website and download the PsiWin Registry Cleaner (last item on that page). Run this to remove all the PsiWin entries from the registry, which also removes "My Psion" from the Desktop.

The first thing you have to do to connect with PsiWin is to get the proper installation file to set it up in your PC.
I am toying with the idea of buying a revo plus 16mb or a 5mx......IF I do decide to take the plunge......which would you guys recommend of the two ? I have a Revo (only because BT Shops were selling them off at 'silly' prices) and 5mx. Given the choice, I would opt for the 5mx - it uses conventional AA batteries rather than rechargeables, has a Compact Flash slot for additional file storage memory with CF cards and I actually find the Revo keyboard pretty awful - I prefer the old Series 3 one to the Revo's. The 5mx keyboard on the other hand is very good.

OK I've been able to download psiwin 2.3.3 on my dialup connection - Hurrah

I've been able to back up some files - Hurrah

BUT I've not been able to copy/convert files to the pc to view :( boo hoo. Tried both convert and copy.

Can't remember exact responses will ck in next few days if u need full exact responses but appros responses were:

Convert - something abou not being able to find path or path not existing.

Copy only - no association exists create one - tried to follow what it said but got stuck in trying to create assosciation.

Can anyone please help on this one ?
