Alright, it's taken a while, but after just getting back into my Mech engineering course (we started back late after exams in Jan) I'm finally carrying the Zire 31 I got for Christmas. I have a few questions.

What can I use this thing for?
More specifically, what software would you recommend to a 20 year old Mechanical Engineering student in Ireland who's very disorganised as regards everything?
How long should the battery be lasting if I play an album's worth of music?
What kind of storage would you recommend? anything that stands out?

I see myself using this thing for a personal diary, task scheduler, budget thingy, listening to music, and doing something regarding my project and study work in college. But I'm confused as to where to start. How do you integrate something like this into daily life?

:confused: :confused: :confused:

Hello c_jay_ie,

Paul from palmOne here. Congratulations on your new Zire. You can use it for all the purposes you stated. The Zire comes with pretty much all the software you would need, including Calendar and Tasks to keep your schedule, Memos and Notepad for reminders and notes, Expense and Splash Money for monitoring personal and business expenses, Real One for playing MP3s, etc.
There are quite a number of third-party software applications available as well, and I'm certain others here at PDA Street will contribute info on their favorites.
The best thing you can do is read the User Guide that came with your Zire to familiarize yourself with the applications in which you're most interested and give them a go.
You may also want to register the Zire here (https://www.onlineregister.com/palm/reg/cgi/index.cgi?LANG=EN&CTRY=United%20States), if you haven't already. That will keep you up-to-date about any discounts and promotional offers that may come up. The palmOne Zire 31 Support page (http://www.palmone.com/us/support/zire31/) is a good resource as well as its Community page (http://www.palmone.com/us/community/myhandheld/zire31/), which contains links to informative user stories and tips and tricks.
And don't forget PDA Street of course, there are many folks here with lots of great expertise.

Enjoy!

Paul

Hi c_jay_ie,

I'm in the metal fabrication business myself and use a program called Engcalc. They have a mechnical engineering module for their software which you may like. Try the demo here;
