Uh oh! It looks like our beloved Anders is reaching his 4 K (4096) limit on posts. He's currently sitting at 4095, so it looks like he's only allowed one more post before he's cut off.
Everyone knows that the record limit for the Forum Poster app built in to Palm OS 5 (Garnet) is 4 K. Maybe he can sign in using an alternate account, though that would require a user-name change. Another possibility would be to wait for Palm OS 6 (Cobalt) where this limit is reported to no longer exist.
Hopefully this one final post will be a memorable one that will transcend the boundaries of all forums and calm the sounds of wild lamentations and gnashing of teeth that would otherwise be heard. (How about that sentence?) :D
Seriously, though... Congrats on your imminent triumph over this great power of 2. Everyone else here seems to only congratulate people for passing monumental 10-based numbers.

Well, there's one other forum member, who is about 400 posts ahead of me, so you'll not get rid of me that easily!

AnswerDude hangs out a lot at the iPaq forum and is the number one poster. The conversation goes something like this:
AnswerDude: "So, Anders, how does it feel to be the second highest poster?" (Smug expression on face).
Anders: "It's fine AnswerDude, just fine. Now answer this for me: how does it feel to be the second best?"
:D

I'm not sure I'm the best, but even if that would be true, he can't be second best, 'cause that would imply him being ahead of you, Bokkie! ;)

Bokkies thread analysis.
1. Take a pair of scales.
2. Left scale for rubbish.
3. Right scale for useful replies.
4. Fill the scales appropriately.
That establishes the order of merit.

CinderK,
In the past your posts have always been limited to intelligent, serious and helpful insights, hence your relatively low post count. Now that you have added humor to your repertoire you will have to hang out here more often. :D

Danke, Herr Cat...
I do tend to have a sense of humor about me, though it's not always expressed when a post is "bogged down" with technical details (which can often happen when trying to be helpfully insightful).
It's true that I don't post as much as I used to, but I still try to swing by when time and desire allow. By now there are a lot of people who know a lot about the iQue 3600. Thus, by the time I see a question, it's usually answered already.
I plan on continuing to visit as the above-mentioned variables allow for at least as long as I have a relevant piece of Garmin hardware.

CinderK, which forum format do you prefer, this or the one used by GarminPDA@yahoo.com where I've seen that you have contributed also?
I'm intrigued that so many participate there, evidently prefering it to pdastreet. Is this forum too geekish? Or too bokkieish?? Or too swedd*shh?

Jonas, I did not even know there was a Yahoo group for the Garmin PDA. When I saw your note I went and took a look. There does not appear to be so very much activity. Even in the busy months it looks like it only averages about 4 messages per day, or fewer. There have only been 16 messages in February (7 days).
My suspicion is that the reverse of my situation is true over there as well. That is, I was not aware it existed until you mentioned it here. I would bet that the majority do not, or were not, aware that the iQue forum on PDAStreet exists. Those few who participate in both are likely the exception.
I dislike Yahoo Groups because after every couple of messages they pop an advertising screen that you have to click through to get to the next message. At least the double-underlined words on this forum are relatively benign. Once you know they are there it's easy to navigate the mouse cursor around them.

From what I've seen, many of the questions asked at yahoo, or should we now officially name it "over there", are things that's already been discussed here.
Perhaps a good idea, to have different technical levels in different groups?

IMO, this is one reason that people gravitate here instead of at Yahoo. I like Yahoo but the Groups interface is painful to use even without all the advertisements.

I read all my Yahoo groups through Gmane (http://www.gmane.org) , that way I avoid the ads. It's a much nicer interface.

Thanks Ann for that tip, could make it nicer to read map_authors also. I agree that the GarminPDA group is less active but well known pundits like Hal Mueller and Dale De Priest participate(d) there rather than here which was/is a loss to this forum. But I guess differentiation could still be a good idea.

It could be that they are intimidated coming here by the shear brainpower displayed at this forum and also Bokkie. :D
Rather be big fish in a small pond.
Small lights seem brighter in the dark.
or maybe we are just too annoying.......:)

So how exactly can you get to the Yahoo groups (e.g. GarminPDA) using Gmane? I went to the site but I could not find it.

It's not there, Joseph, you have to request it. I gave Jonas the link further up in the thread, but here it is again (http://gmane.org/subscribe.php) if you want to request it, too.

...I seem to like this format better, since you can see a thread all together on one page instead of just a chronological listing of the posts with links to follow.
Way back when the 3600 was a young lad, I started visiting and posting on this forum and the Yahoo forum. I also visit(ed) the PIC (Palm Info Center) forum, but never decided to start posting. You think the Yahoo group is dead? Go look at the PIC iQue forum!
I still visit and post to both this forum and the Yahoo group. And for those worried that there might be poor, ignorant types over there that don't know about PDAStreet, this forum has been mentioned multiple times by myself and others. If not in any current threads, at least the references are in the history. And considering the lack of volume over there, reading through the history is much more manageable than doing so over here.

If you choose not to chit-chat here or help someone with their problem, you could spend the next year or so lurking in the background reading the results of a search or two and get everything you need (plus stuff you didn't need to read). The history is just one thing that is deep in this forum ;)
