I've spent the last six hours trying to get my Jornada 728 to sync smoothly over USB but have had no luck. It'll take several attempts to get it sycned and when it does finally sync it'll disconnect immediately or after 1 to 2 minutes.

I'm running:
Windows XP (fully updated)
ActiveSync 3.1, 3.5, 3.6 (yup, tried em all several times)

I've done the following:
Updated BIOS
Uninstalled and reinstalled USB drivers (several times)
Tried many combinations of starting/stopping Jornada/software
I've swapped cradles

I've noticed one quirk:
If I touch the screen and open a file folder or a program immediately after a successful sync, the Jornada will stay synced for a long period of time and won't disconnect.

I've had problems with syncing on my Windows 98 OS, my Windows 2K pro OS, and now my Windows XP machine. I've had problems with syncing (but to a lesser degree) with my Jornada 720 that I replaced recently with the 728.

This is driving me nuts. How do I put an end to all these frustrating sync problems???

If you have other usb periferals you might unhook them, reboot and give it a try. I've had fit upon fit with perfs. plugged in, also try one of the usb jacks in back if you have them rather than the front. Don't know why, but at times things work better back there. I think they are a first set and the front are a second???
