Is there or has there been a contrast hack for the m505? I have the Palm site authorized backlight and that has worked out pretty well over the last year but I want a contrast hack. My eye sight is not very good so I want to be able to adjust the display. Could someone please let me know about that? Thanks :)

I am with you, that would be nice. I have looked for a program like that for years and have not found it. I found one of the launchers, & I don't even remember which one now that was supposed to let you adjust the contrast. I installed it with excitement and when I hit the contrast button, it said, "sorry but the contrast on this PDA cannot be adjusted". End of story, what a disappointment.
If you ever find anything post it, I would be interested also.
Have a good day,

This is not a contrast hack but this might help.

It can change the background of the screen. Try all of the colors in your preferences area and maybe one will help.

It is not possible to adjust the contrast of the 505/515 screen. THE color screens are not designed to allow for any adjustment to the current flow. Only the front lighting of the screen can be altered. THe 515 on the high light setting is a step up.

So, if there is not a contrast utility for the m505(I know about the screen and agree with you, DrMud), Does anyone know of a way to brighten the screen? I've seen the brightness of the m515, and it is wonderful! Is it just an OS feature, or an actual screen problem? I would think there is a way to adjust the brightness of the light. You can with regular bulbs by increasing their voltage. Interested in any rumors or info. Thanks.

The brighter screen is the big new feature for the 515, relative to the 505. Palm provides no upgrade path to the 505 to make it brighter, other than buying a 515.
