Joseph,
I downloaded a code snippet and ran that on the ppc. I was not able to identify exactly what port the cfque was running on, but a general sweep revealed I have 7 com ports on the ppc (cfque, bt are two for sure) and some others of uncertain origin or status. I need to go back to the mvp's at opennetcf.org and find out if there is something in the serial coms that will help to ping the com port and identify what it is that is hanging off the end of it.
I'll maybe only know this weekend what the cfque may be revealing about itself but I'm a step closer to finding out. The developers of opennetcf are busy getting r2 enabled for installation and they've formally added a gps library that addresses com ports in particular but it's still a bit unclear. I'll be buying gpsgate this weekend as well as that will be pivotal to data sharing.

IIRC, I read that the data coming in on the virtual port is Garmin's PVT protocol instead of NMEA? Otherwise, most third-party apps should work out of the box. Anyway, keep us posted - although this may be moot once your M5 comes out.

Will do Joseph. It's gps 10 btw, not m5.:)

There is an easy way. Are you running Garmin Que 2.60?
If yes, then go to the Menu - System Setup and the last tab page Interface. On the GPS Device drop-down select GPS 10 Bluetooth instead of cf Que.
If you look after the Communications Port drop-down, you will see all COM-ports of your PPC. One must be the cf Que.
:-)

And then if you do the same thing with the cfQue removed from its slot, one of the COM ports should disappear?

I think yes, but I don't know really, because I have no cfQue, use the Que in GPS10 mode. The COM port list not only show the port number but the port description too - should be for the cfQue something like GARMIN cfQue 1620.

I am running 2.6
My Menu -> System Setup lists General, Routing, Guidance, Avoidance, Units, Buttons, Language only. There is no Interface tab. Perhaps it is only enabled when the gps 10 is connectable?
I just tried checking the same thing. It is not there. Hmmm both are V2.60. Not very good version control me thinks.
Also, on my hx4700, the BT port is Com5 for what it's worth. cf and sd are probably ports 6 and 7.

Sorry, just forget the trick. If you never mind, go to the Registry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\cfQue
Find a value with name Devices. Change the original value of 0 to 1, and restart Garmin Que.
I don't remember, if the value was originally present, or not. If you don't find it, just create a DWORD with name Devices and value other than 0.

Kaba kimo, saba waba,
I presume you are referring to the hx registry? If so, then I don't have a registry editor. What one do you recommend? Freeware if possible.

I found one called TRE. I've attached a screenshot, showing my Devices set to 1 and the tabs that my Garmin Que program displays. As you see, no sign of an Interface tab. Maybe it only pops up for the GPS 10?

Sorry, I don't remember how I made this. On my system the value is 3 when GPS10 is selected. Maybe you try with 3.

3 does it Kaba. I now get the gps 10 as an option in the dropdown.
