I'm looking for a simple way of mounting my Ipaq h6365 in the car. While browsing through a pile of mounts that all claim to be the best I noticed a magnetic one.

You've probably seen them, you place an adhesive magnet on the back of your Ipaq (pda) and then the mount has a magnet on it that you just stick it to. It is claimed that it is very reliable and won't come off.

I have two doubts about this, the first is how would the magnet affect the pda? I'm guessing not a lot and the other is what kind of damage am I going to cause to the back of my pda when the time comes to remove the magnet.

Can someone suggest a mount that they use or even comment on these vent holders that I see advertised.

It should not have any problem unless you are using compactflash microdrive type storage card which can be effected by magnet (regular CF or SD memory card is not effected). I know that many cases also use magnetic clasps.

Hi Dave.

Have you thought of using Velcros?

I use Velcros to mount my PDA when connected to my GPS and using OziExplorer.

Works a treat. Did the Canning Stock Route and it did not move an inch.

Depending on the shape of your dash, you may have to bend up a metal (thickish tinplate) bracket to off set the funny shapes of some dashes, that too can be Velcros ed to the dash. The wide stuff I fund the best to use.

Hope this helps :D
