Now with the introduction of Garmin's GPS 10, it seems to me that it will cannibalize the market for the cfQue. Why would users still buy the cfQue when the price is just about the same?

Are all PPC's BT enabled? If not, I guess there's your market. Otherwise, I would agree that with BT, why have the cfQue?

I think the cfQue was the "experiment" to see if there would be any major issues with the platform and the software.

Of course, I could just be completely full of crap and not know what the hell I'm talking about. No comments please Bokkie.

As time goes by more and more PPC’s will come with BT, even the low end models. The majority of them out now don’t have a CF slot, most seem to have an SD slot though.
It does seem that in the future the cfQue will have low demand.

One advantage I can see is the portability factor, from what I can see of the cfQue you can leave it in the PDA and it won’t add to much bulk.
The GPS10 although small is still a separate item that needs to be carried around.
Also when walking you will have to find a place to carry the GPS10 so it can see the sky while holding the PDA, no so bad if you have a backpack etc, but if not you may need to stick it on your shoulder. That’s probably only one step away from having a propeller on your hat :D

That's quite true what's been said. The cfQue now fits nowhere. With the M5 and the GPS 10 it's only saving grace is that it is a CF device. AFAIK, only one piece of software, OziExplorer has been coded to support it. The NMEA compliance of the GPS 10 is far superior. The silly thing is, I recommended the cfQue at work and I was given one, and thankfully, the only one that was bought. I was told to get the GPS 10 as more people know of NMEA than they do of Garmin's proprietery format and so I was told not to feel despondent about the cfQue decision. Not enough was known about it at that time.

Personally, I'd rather have a BT device and keep the CF slot for useable memory. At the time of writing, I think three GPS 10's are probable, one for my desk (development), one in the car (yeeha!), and one allocated to someone else.

I wonder if SD and CF are only reserved for the top-end of the PDA spectrum. Almost every PDA I've seen has SD, but only the more expensively equipped have a CF as well. I like the option of having both. In the UK, it seems there are better deals on CF memory cards than there on SD cards. I think a 1Gb CF card will, for the same price, complement my 512Mb SD card.

Maybe, I know when I went looking for a base model PDA for a colleges retirement gift, they all had SD slots. We (engineering team at work) ended up buying him a Palm Zire.

I have seen a few SD slot GPS units for sale on eBay, but they look oh so fragile!
I can just see myself snapping the top of one of those things

I wonder if Garmin will rework the cfQue into an sdQue???

It seems BT is the preferred direction they seem to be going, especially on PPC platforms and add laptop/desktops to the equation and you have a far wider target audience. Maybe Garmin are so big they don't have to care anymore, but moving to BT/NMEA was a good move. It opens up far more avenues for aoftware development.
