I have just ordered two GPS10’s, one deluxe and one OEM.

I don’t think I will have any problem unlocking maps to the OEM unit, but do any of the GPS10 owners out there know if you can load the software on a second PDA and then link both PDA’s (not concurrently) to the GPS unit? i.e. does pairing one PDA to the GPS delete the other pairing?
I know most vehicle hands free kits that link via BT allow multiple cell phones to pair to them (just not all at the same time)

My idea is to get two GPS10’s, one for each car we have, and then have my PDA and my wife’s PDA link to either of the units depending on what car we take out.
Any thoughts on this scenario?

Thanks
Mick

Mick it should work as I see it. The maps of course will be unlocked on each device using the two codes that come with the device. The software is not dependent on the maps as we know. You'll get two unlock codes with each GPS 10 so you can cross-register the PDAs so that either can be used in either car and both should work. That's my understanding of the unlock codes.

What is the difference between the deluxe and OEM versions? I was of the impression that the GPS 10 comes only in boxed format. Maybe in you part of the world, it is marketed differently. You're in Oz are'nt you?

Edit: just noticed your are southern Oz. I was in the States many years ago, having arrived from Jo'burg where I was then. I was 'accused' of being an Australian! Don't take it personally.:D

Bokkie,
Unfortunately the Garmin agent in Australia is hopeless, we only got local sales of the iQue 3600 about 6 months ago!
And they are selling them for; get this – AU$1200, that’s around US$930! at current exchange rates. And it’s not the maps either, Aussie maps cost AU$350 here, and US maps cost AU$330. (Aussie maps are around 70Mb installed, US maps are around 1.5G!)

OK, now I have got that of my chest, back on topic.. :) I have ordered the GPS10’s from TVNAV in the USA. The OEM version does not come with any software or maps as I understand it, and it is US$70 cheaper as a result.

I ordered this way because I don’t need two sets of US maps, in fact I don’t even need one set, I still have one unlock entitlement for US maps left over from my iQue.
But I do need the setup software, so I need at least one deluxe unit.

I was reasonably comfortable with the map unlocking side of things; it’s just the BT pairing thing I’m unsure about.
I don’t want a complicated pairing operation every time I take the wife’s car (the one with leather seats, climate control, CD stacker etc) and then the same ordeal when I go back to mine ( the crappy little buzz box, radio only and not even power windows)
It all depends on the way Garmin have set up the GPS10 and the number of BT pairings it will support.
