There are people using USB "serial port replicators" with PsiWin but it seems that some devices are more reliable than others. I assume you have checked the usual things -
* only the COM port the Psion is connected to is selected
* same speed set in PsiWin and on Psion
* all other programs closed down
I would suggest you also prevent PsiWin from loading automatically when the PC is booted. This is done by removing its shortcut in:
C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\
To start a PsiWin connection, you then either double-click "My Psion" on the desktop or move the highlight on to "My Psion" in Windows Explorer. Starting it this way when required might get you connected.

i have not tried closing all my progams (would this include the ones in the taskbar?) but i will. I don't know which programs in particular might be a problem, but some users who have experienced problems connecting with psiWin have found it helpful to close down anything they don't need to have running. As a test, try using Ctrl-Alt-Del to shut down everything except Systray and Explorer, then see if "PsiWill" or "PsiWon't" :)

I WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i haven't a clue witch setting i changed but it works witht eh computer that had refused it from the get go. i did yan's recommended thing with hyperterminal and found which com port it was connected to after closing every process save "explorer" and "systray" and disconnecting my serial modem (as well as deleting it from the hardware profile, and "modems" panel in control panal). i then installed psiwin 2.3.3 (i think, but anyway, the latest version) and selected com2 and it worked!. i did have to reinstall my modem on the other com port but that took a whole 2 seconeds.
cheers and many thanks
