OWG 02-19-2005, 10:46 PM I use one with my HP iPaq, and it really is fantastic! I have mounted mine with a proclip dash mount. You can find out more about it here (http://www.proclipusa.com) . My original posts about this mount are here (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50497&perpage=15&highlight=seidio%20proclip&pagenumber=6) . Bokkie 02-20-2005, 04:30 AM I'm banished from using the mount in my/her car until I put the mount on the passenger side. That means getting another Brodit clip. The existing clip has quite a deep profile and once the mount is fitted, it is very close to the indicator stalk, and my beloved is not pleased with that. Otherwise, Seidio make a very good mount. Project ongoing... I only get to drive the car every few weeks or so anyway.:( kelsdogz 02-20-2005, 07:49 AM Found it for 69.99-----53.99+16.00 for x50 model http://www.semsons.com/seidg2gpsrea.html alexcue 02-20-2005, 11:58 AM Anybody know yet if any of the other charging cables for the Seido, (i read it has an output for power to Bluetooth GPS') will work for the GPS10? or is the GPS10 connector really that different from the others. Everything powered by one power adapter sounds kinda cool, and saves a power outlet. I have heard that they are planning on a power cable from Seidio DC out to GPS 10, keep an eye on their site, or give them a call for an ETA. I can say this about the DC out though, it actually makes things look a little messier because of where they placed the jack. It adds a cable from the right side, and the connecter on it isn't right angle. I'll take a picture of my phone charger cable and post here later. alexcue 02-20-2005, 01:04 PM Thanks for the advice OWG 02-20-2005, 07:36 PM Here is a pic with the optional cable in. I only insert it when I have to charge the phone. Otherwise it is folded up in my glovebox. It would have been much better designed if it used a 90 degree connector and much more pliable cable. Perhaps when you call them, you can suggest that. alexcue 02-23-2005, 12:47 AM ugh, not a pretty picture... kinda dumb to make it stick out like that. rkevwill 02-23-2005, 09:05 PM Cumon OWG, let one of us car guys route that cable for ya. Might need to get a right angle plug for start though. I do like the idea there is a charging piece there if a person wants to put the GPS10 on the dash though. Could keep it powered up the whole trip without routing a wire to the way back. (here we all are, thinking about the different mounting solutions for our various cars/trucks) Like the Pro clip/seido idea. That would work great in my old BMW kefer 02-23-2005, 09:19 PM From my two week experience with the GPS 10...that is one major negative - having to charge it seperately from the pda. Remembering to keep it charged is a major pita compared to the iQue, I have to admit. I don't want cables hanging all over the car everytime I use the gps. Installing it with a permanently wired cable might be a solution, but it is simply not as convienient as the iQue. I'm not going back to the iQue (I like the x50v way to much :) ), but I must admit I hadn't fully thought through the charging issue before I got it. rkevwill 02-23-2005, 09:25 PM As Tim Allen always said "Lets re-wire that sucker!" In this case, I think providing a hardwire to the location where a person is keeping it, and a simple plugin would be a great idea. That way, if a person wants to take it out on a walkabout, its already charged and ready to go!! Just GOT to make sure, its not drawing any power when the car is turned off. I am having a gremlin issue in my car right now, either from the XM radio, or possibly my powered radio antenna, that is drawing power when the car is off. gotta find that gremlin and smash his little green head in. alexcue 02-23-2005, 11:52 PM Has anyone tried the AC adapter from the iQue to charge the GPS 10? I thought i read the review that mentioned the plug was the same size. OWG 02-24-2005, 06:26 AM Originally posted by rkevwill As Tim Allen always said "Lets re-wire that sucker!" I am having a gremlin issue in my car right now, either from the XM radio, or possibly my powered radio antenna, that is drawing power when the car is off. gotta find that gremlin and smash his little green head in. I did re-wire. As I included in my review, I place the GPS 10 on the back ledge behind the rear seats. I ran a 1-3 Socket splitter from the cig outlet to up under the front dash. One of the outlets is to the Seidio, One is to a 10 ft extension and the other is available if I need it for anything else. I tucked the 10ft extension under the door sill plastic, al the way to the back seats, where I found a way to tuck it through to the trunk of the car. I have the power for the GPS 10 run between the rear window and the plastic there, then back into the trunk as well. The GPS 10 always stays in the car, unless, as you said, I need it for geocaching, or whatever, then I just take it out. Works very well for me and I find to be much more convenient than the cfQue. rkevwill 02-24-2005, 06:51 AM Yup, actually, your idea of putting that unit on the rear deck is what made me think of suggesting that to Kefer ! :) OWG, one suggestion for you, if you want to get really tricked out...... If you have a power source in your trunk that is a switched connection, you might tap a lead from that source, with a fused wire. (or run one from your fuse box) You can even find fused wires that are bare on one end, and have the socket connector on the other end. This might enable you to pop everything behind seats, under deck, into trunk, or whatever. You might be able to get rid of your 3 way this way. I like that rear deck idea myself, and may look into that as an application for one of my cars. On our Expedition, I have a powered XM antenna, built for trucks. It didn't need a socket, but what I did was run a hot wire back from the fuse box. The really PROPER way to do this is, they make special taps to go right into the fuse box. Also, if you want to run direct power to something in front, find a fuse that is a switched connection, and get one of the special taps they have where you take out the fuse, put in your adapter (it has its own fuse btw, with a bare wire sticking out to tap too) and replace the original fuse right in the adapter. You may already know all of this, but thought I would mention it in case another reader might be interested. Yup, its true, I'm a car guy, and had to find something to use all that Bell Labs training for. Now if we get to talking about upgrading radios in cars.......... :D PDA Street
