Can anyone help me before all my hair falls out?!!
My kit (the relevant parts, anyway):
iPaq 3760 running Pocket PC 2002 with PCMCIA jacket & Xircom 802.11 card
Good-spec PC running Windows XP connected to a peer-to-peer LAN at my house, with a Sitecom USB wireless adapter.
My problem:
I've tried to set up my iPaq to my home LAN in order to browse the Internet whilst I'm in my back garden. I've given the iPaq an IP address, and can ping the iPaq from my PC (so my connection is live), but can't seem to set up the iPaq to connect to the Internet.
Both wireless devices can 'see' each other, and XP gets quite enthusiastic about how good the connection is between the two.
Where am I going wrong?!

Have you checked your default gateway ("default") on the properties sheet for your wireless card in the Settings | Network Adapters page?

Yeah...! I've tried leaving it blank, as well as putting 192.168.0.1 (the IP of my ethernet LAN adapter) in.
Current IP assignments of my wireless kit:
iPaq: 192.168.0.203
PC wireless adapter: 192.168.0.200
This is driving me mad?! Where am I going wrong?

Hi,
You will need to enter the gateway address on your PDA. This equals the internal (LAN) IP of the PC or router that is connected to the Internet. So in your case that would be 192.168.0.200. You will also have to enable Internet connection sharing on your PC. This is done by accessing the "advanced tab" in the properties of your Local Area Connection. You will also need to make sure you have a DNS server entered in the IP properties of your PDA. I am not sure if this would equal the IP of your PC or the IP of your ISP's DNS server. I have never used the Internet connection sharing function of 2000/XP so I am just guessing. In anycase ...without have a DNS server entry if you were to enter www.hotmail.com into your PDA's web browser, it will just look at you stupid like and say not found. DNS is what turns IP addresses like 64.4.45.7 into things we can easily remember like www.hotmail.com.
To find our your ISP's DNS servers IP you will need to be connected to the net. On your PC bring up a command prompt (run then type in cmd). In the command window type in ipconfig /all
This will report all the IP settings of all the interfaces on your PC. Included in this will be the dynamic DNS server entries that your ISP has assigned you.
Hope this helps.

I have a dlink cf card and dlink wireless pci card. I had to change the IP address of the wireless PCI card to the PC's IP and pick an IP in range for the CF card. The subnet must be the same.
I am now connected to my wired system which has a router and three PCs attached. My Ipaqs are a 3955 (no bluetooth) and a 3630. I use the same IP for both units since the CF card initializes with the stored infomation.
