I was thinking of getting a USB cable for my psion sold by clove, thought it could be handy for using with friends printer which only has USB port and also in case I ever get round to getting my imac to talk with a psion, and was informed by the helpful Laurence (always great service from Clove) that the cable most probably would not work for printing and it was only for linking to a pc. Does anyone have an experience to the contrary?

I believe what you are looking at is a USB "Serial Port Replicator" - a device to create a serial port on a PC which only has USB ports.

It has a 9-pin male connector (the same as a serial port at the back of a PC) to connect to the PsiWin cable and a USB connector to connect to the PC's USB port, not the different USB port on a device such as a printer. I don't remember which is which but there is an "A" USB connector and a "B" connector - one for the PC and the other for the device.

....unless I am looking at the wrong thing on Clove's website.

Oh, it becomes clear, thanks Mike. I was not aware "there is an "A" USB connector and a "B" connector", though If I had opened my eyes and looked I see what you mean. Then my question is "Is there a lead with the USB end that plugs into USB printers out there or a converter plug"

Then my question is "Is there a lead with the USB end that plugs into USB printers out there or a converter plug" To do what? You cannot print directly from a Psion to a printer which only has a USB port. The Psion doesn't support USB connectivity - period!

Got it clear now, thanks Mike
